Frequently asked questions
Twelve detailed answers to the questions we hear most about Italian citizenship by descent, the Assessment, and how we work.
You receive two deliverables after payment: a personalized strategic PDF of 15 to 25 pages covering the complete legal diagnosis of your case, the applicable pathway, the roadmap, realistic timelines, and a prioritized list of documents to track down; and 30 days of direct WhatsApp access to a senior analyst for all follow-up questions.
Every Assessment is written from your questionnaire responses and the supporting documents you upload after payment confirmation. It is not a generic template — the analysis identifies the legislation applicable to your case (Law 74/2025, Decree 36/2025, 1948 case law), the specific risks of your file, and the document-search priorities tailored to your place of origin.
48 business hours from the receipt of payment AND the required documents. Business hours mean working days, excluding French statutory holidays. If the uploaded documents turn out to be insufficient, we contact you in under 12 hours for clarifications — the 48-hour counter pauses while we wait.
In the (exceptional) case where the timeline exceeds 72 business hours for reasons attributable to us, we refund the Assessment in full without justification, in accordance with Article L216-2 of the French Consumer Code.
An Italian attorney specializing in jure sanguinis typically charges between 3,000 and 12,000 € for a full case, including representation of the client before Italian consulates, comune, and courts. Our 249€ Assessment sits earlier in the funnel: it tells you precisely WHAT to do, which legal pathway applies, which documents to track down first, and which risks to expect in your case. It does not represent the client before authorities — that belongs to a later attorney if you choose to hire one.
Many clients use the Assessment in one of two ways: take it as a roadmap and proceed on their own through the simpler steps (Classic pathway via consulate with accessible documents), or present it to an Italian attorney who charges FAR less when the case is already strategically prepared. In the second scenario, the ROI is direct: you save several thousand euros by approaching the attorney with the case already analyzed.
The PDF explains exactly WHY you do not qualify under current legislation, which specific criteria are missing, and whether an alternative pathway exists (1948 Court pathway for maternal lines pre-1948, Accelerated Naturalization for descendants able to take up residence in Italy). In most "directly ineligible" cases, indirect routes exist and the analysis identifies them.
If the conclusion is "not eligible" through any known pathway, we explain what would need to change for you to become eligible (often a specific document not yet located, or an anticipated legislative development). You are entitled to the 30-day satisfaction guarantee if you believe the analysis was not sufficiently deep, but the unfavorable verdict itself is not grounds for a refund — finding the legal truth about your case is exactly what you paid for.
Yes. We work with three partner Italian law firms specializing in jure sanguinis, located in Rome, Milan, and Naples, covering the three main consular and court jurisdictions. We make recommendations based on the geography of your case (place of birth of the ancestor, last competent consulate) and the complexity of the case (Classic vs 1948 vs Naturalization).
The names and detailed CVs of the partners are shared only with clients who have purchased an Assessment, to avoid unsolicited commercial outreach. The introduction does not involve a hidden commission — partners apply their standard rates and we receive no payment for the referral.
It depends heavily on the case. A simple consular case (Classic pathway with accessible documents) runs between 1,500 and 3,000 € all in, including the Assessment, document retrieval, sworn translations, apostilles, and targeted attorney follow-up. A 1948 Court case (maternal lines pre-1948) runs between 4,000 and 8,000 € due to the judicial procedure in Italy. A complex case involving lost Italian archive searches can reach 10,000 to 15,000 €.
The 249€ Assessment tells you exactly which bracket applies to you. Without this visibility, clients often spend 3,000 to 5,000 € on uncoordinated steps (useless translations, unnecessary trips, attorneys consulted in the dark) before discovering that their applicable pathway was different. The initial investment pays for itself many times over in errors avoided.
Yes, drastically. Law 74/2025 (consolidating Decree 36/2025), confirmed by the Italian Constitutional Court in March 2026, restricts cittadinanza jure sanguinis to direct descendants of a father or grandfather born in Italy. Before the reform, the line could be traced back without a generational limit — a descendant of an emigrant from 1880 could qualify. A precise strategy is now required.
For cases that no longer qualify via the direct route (typically great-grandchildren or further), the reform opened the Accelerated Naturalization pathway: two years of legal residence in Italy are enough to naturalize (instead of the 10 years previously applicable to foreigners). The 1948 Court pathway (maternal lines pre-1948) remains fully viable. Each case must be analyzed individually — the reform closed some doors but opened others.
Yes. The entire infrastructure is hosted in European data centers (Frankfurt, Germany) via Vercel and Supabase, in line with GDPR data-localization requirements. Payments flow exclusively through Stripe certified PCI-DSS Level 1, and we never receive or store bank card data.
The supporting documents you upload are kept in a private, encrypted bucket for 24 months after delivery of the Assessment, then automatically deleted. You are entitled to request earlier deletion at any time by email at dpo@cittadinanzadesk.com. The full details of our data processing are set out in our Privacy Policy.
Yes, in two scenarios. First: the statutory 14-day right of withdrawal under Article L221-18 of the French Consumer Code — applicable unless you have expressly waived it to benefit from the 48-hour express delivery, which we offer at checkout via a dedicated checkbox (Article L221-28). Second: the contractual 30-day satisfaction guarantee following delivery, which covers justified dissatisfaction with the technical quality of the analysis (factual errors, serious omissions, lack of personalization).
The guarantee does NOT cover dissatisfaction with the verdict itself (if we conclude on ineligibility and that displeases you, that is not grounds for a refund) or changes of mind by the client. The full procedure, timelines, and covered cases are detailed in our Refund Policy.
The public site, the Assessments themselves, and follow-up communications are available in three languages: Spanish, English, and Portuguese (Brazilian variant). This covers the full Latin American market of descendants of Italian immigration — Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Chile, Venezuela, Colombia, Mexico — and the Spanish-speaking United States.
Italian-language support is available on specific request for clients who prefer it. Italian official documents illustrated within the Assessment are reproduced in their original language with courtesy translations.

The team combines Italian legal expertise, consular experience, and knowledge of Italian historical and religious archives — a set of skills rarely found together in a single professional. The team’s accumulated experience on jure sanguinis cases exceeds 15 years, with hundreds of files handled across all three legal pathways.
The detailed CVs of the senior analysts assigned to your case are shared after purchase of the Assessment, to preserve the confidentiality of the teams and to avoid competitor solicitation. We work in synergy with the three partner Italian law firms mentioned above for cases requiring legal representation. Italian attorneys interested in a partnership are welcome to reach out at partners@cittadinanzadesk.com.
